Question:  How much should I pay for my wedding video?

Answer:  There is no right or wrong answer to this question. The brides who typically are the unhappiest after the wedding aren't the ones who scrimped on the cake, flowers or gown. They are the ones who scrimped on the videography. When your wedding day has passed, you can never reconstruct it. Only the video combines the sights and sounds and wraps it all together to re-create the magic whenever you want it. That's why video is the ultimate art form for reliving happy memories.

Question:  How should I shop for a wedding videographer?

Answer:  Ask for referrals from family and friends. Go beyond just the Yellow Pages. You'll find them featured in bridal publications and special mailings. Ask the videographers you talk to for referrals and testimonials from other brides. And go beyond price in your telephone conversations with professional videographers. Although price is an important consideration to you, it is not the only consideration. No price is a good price if you don't like the quality of the finished product. Ask if they specialize in big weddings or small weddings. Ask if they use many special effects in their work. Ask if they specialize in special religious ceremonies. Ask if they have ever videotaped a wedding in the location where you plan to be married.

These questions are good icebreakers and allow you and the videographer to begin to establish a rapport. This is important to you, because you'll want to work with a videographer you like and trust, as well as a videographer who does good work within your budget.

Question:  What is the biggest mistake a bride can make when it comes to having her wedding video-taped?

Answer:  Using a non-professional videographer. You may have friends or family members who would like to contribute to your wedding efforts in some capacity. They may want to shoot your wedding for you. Be careful you don't spoil a family relationship. Your friend or "Uncle Charlie" would feel terrible if something went wrong.
